Making your own laundry, is a great way to limit plastic and save money.
With my recipe, for 12 euros, I make about 40 liters of laundry. It is a totally natural detergent. It works with all skin types, even sensitive skin and children.
For 2 liters of detergent, we need:

- 100 grams of Marseille soap
- 3 tablespoons of baking soda
- 2 liters of water
- 10 minutes of your time
Baking soda can be found in all supermarkets. For Marseille soap, on the other hand, it is a little more complicated. The name “Marseille soap” is not protected. This means that anyone can make any soap and call it Marseille soap. A real Marseille soap, contains at least 70% of olive oil. So, if your soap is not green, you can be sure that it is not a Marseille soap. You have to be careful but it is far from impossible to find. As always, the internet is your friend. Personally, I buy mine at the Fer à Cheval.
- Once the ingredients are gathered, take a large pot and heat 1 liter of water without bringing it to a boil.
- Meanwhile, grate 100 grams of Marseille soap.
- Pour the 100 grams of soap into the pan.
- Wait for the soap to melt, it takes about 5 minutes.

- Once the soap has melted, turn off the heat and gently add 3 tablespoons of baking soda. Go easy on it because it foams up a lot.
- Once it’s done, let it sit for about an hour.
- After that, just dilute with a liter of water and stir a little.
- That’s it! Your detergent is ready. All you have to do is transfer it to a suitable container.

Do not hesitate to shake your detergent before each use.
For the softener, I recommend white vinegar. It is the best ecological softener there is. – Pour two to three tablespoons of white vinegar per machine, in the softener tray, and that’s it.
I have been using this recipe for years and I assure you, it does not damage the clothes or the washing machine at all. Personally, I love the smell of Marseille soap, but if you don’t, you can always add a few drops of lavender or tea tree essential oils. They are both heat resistant and antiseptic.
That’s all for today.
I hope my recipe helped you. Feel free to like and subscribe.
