Like a desire to laugh.

I personally find Fall a bit depressing. It’s often cold, but Christmas and skiing are still far away. It’s raining and the days are getting shorter and shorter. It’s just the right time to stay at home, in your couch, in pilou pilou with a funny series. It’s good for the morale! So I have selected three totally different series which have the merit of making me laugh. I have concocted for you: life after death, zombie and political satyre. You are spoilt for choice. Laughter and relaxation on the program.

We’ll start with it:

Santa Clarita Diet

Joel and Sheila live in Santa Clarita, a small town in the United States where nothing ever happens. They have a daughter and are both real estate agents. So far, nothing too crazy. But one day, while showing a house, Sheila starts to vomit, and not only a little… One could believe in intoxication, but no. She has tons of energy. She is not afraid of anything anymore, but above all, she starts to eat people… I might as well tell you that it changes the family’s routine a little, but not necessarily for the worse. What is sure, it is that the family meals become frankly complicated to prepare.

It’s a far cry from the apocalyptic series where everyone gets eaten by zombies. It’s more like “what happens if your wife starts eating people?” It’s great, and the fact that there is Drew Barrimore doesn’t spoil anything. I warn you, it’s sometimes a bit gory, zombies obliging, but it’s quite funny. It’s well done and touching because they have a good chemistry as a family. It’s a nice series.

The Good Place

The Good Place is the story of a rather nasty woman who dies, and who finds herself by the greatest of coincidences, in paradise. She is the first surprise and quickly realizes that she has been mistaken for someone else. As a result, she does what we would all have done in her place, she keeps quiet. She tries to be discreet and to adapt to the situation but nothing is done for her, neither her house in paradise, nor this soul mate that she has been assigned. This whole story quickly turns into a nightmare.

I really like this series, because it is totally atypical. It deals with a difficult subject, that of life after death, and it does it very well. The scenario is unpredictable. The actors play well. It’s a colorful series for all audiences. I am a fan of “Jeannette”. That character is great. Specifically, if you like different series that surprise, you will love it and ask for more.

Superstore

Welcome to the wonderful world of American hypermarkets. The country of minimum wage and no social security coverage. We start the series with the hiring of Jonah as a storekeeper. We are going to discover with him, all the people who work in the hypermarket. There are all the classes of Americans and frankly there are some carabined! Obviously, they all have opinions on life, people, current events and they make it known. Add to that their messed up personal lives. You mix it all up and it makes for some very moody situations.

It’s funny and grating. It’s for fans of sarcasm and political satire. The series talks about current issues in American society in a humorous way. There are many different points of view and all the themes are covered. It’s a series worth watching. Special mention for Glenn’s voice. You’ll understand when you watch.
